TAKEOFF FESTIVAL is the annual sector-development festival for those working in the field of theatre for young audiences. We invite a range of companies from the UK and abroad to present their work and provide a forum for debate and comparison to raise awareness of the achievement and potential of our field amongst funders, producers and promoters.Takeoff is an important part of Theatre Hullabaloo's offer as a member of the European Small Size network. A thank you from Imaginate

I just wanted to thank everyone who attended the Bank of Scotland Imaginate Festival this year. It seemed to go well; the shows were enjoyed, not enjoyed and argued over though personally I loved them all. And the delegates and companies came together to make for a really exciting exciting and relaxed social event. The weather was fine and the volcano only slightly buggered us up and the start and finish. Looking forward to welcoming old and new friends back again next year.TonySee More

MANIFESTOS (or, Tell Us What You Really Think)

There's a venerable tradition of artists' manifestos, which always seem to pop up especially at times of great cultural and political change (post WW1 dadaists; them 60s experimenters...) so, given that we are living through times of extraordinary change right now, I thought I'd start a thread for MANIFESTOS RELATING TO MAKING ART FOR CHILDREN.Don't have one?  Nor did I until 24 hours ago, then I decided I'd write one.So get going, and it'd be grand to see them here...See More

On encouraging young audiences (or their parents) to take risks

http://www.itstheforest.comWhy should parents bring their children to see something like my company's dance piece 'The Forest'?When it’s half term and I scan the pages of the ‘what’s on for children’ sections of magazines I want to know that the experiences I choose for my children will be, to be honest, worth the effort, that they will enjoy it, that they will be enriched in some way, in any way, by what they’ve seen.I want to take them…See More
