About me
Dear all,

I live to write, I write to explore, I explore to learn, I learn to teach, I teach to love, I love to write, I write to live… and so the cycle goes!

Simultaneous to writing scripts, poetry, short stories, blogs and other, I run Scribble Ink- a Story Consultancy designed to mentor emerging writers throughout their creative process. It’s early days but it’s taking off pretty well.

My ultimate career goal is to have my time split between being a Writer in Residence and running Scribble Ink successfully.

I am inspired by people of all walks of life in all disciplines and I hope to share and expand my knowledge with this ever-evolving network of beautiful people!

Other interests include music (watching not playing… although I have attempted to pick up a guitar countless times), eating (namely chocolate), art galleries, reading, traveling and being in a midst of a hippy-fied live audience!

On encouraging young audiences (or their parents) to take risks

http://www.itstheforest.comWhy should parents bring their children to see something like my company's dance piece 'The Forest'?When it’s half term and I scan the pages of the ‘what’s on for children’ sections of magazines I want to know that the experiences I choose for my children will be, to be honest, worth the effort, that they will enjoy it, that they will be enriched in some way, in any way, by what they’ve seen.I want to take them…See More

Naomi Cortes replied to Naomi Cortes's discussion 'Engaging younger audiences'
The age ranges I am thinking of is between 3 and 7 years.I find there is so much variation between the ages and abilities, I am interested in what factors decide how big or small we can go with our work.

Hi Naomi - what do you mean when you say "younger audiences"?  I think the actual age range for a project has a significant influence on these decisions around scale...

Engaging younger audiences

Hello to all,As I continue to write I find there are two opposing ideas for creating theatre which engages younger audiences. The first, is to create small intimate pieces of work and the other is to create large epic pieces. Do creatives have a preference or a belief that one is more engaging than the other? See More
