Learning and discoveries from the Puppet Portal Project, Phase 1: Puppet Making Kit

As the Puppet Portal Project Phase 2 gets under-way, we are working to collectively build on our learning and discoveries from the first phase. Have you checked out the Evelina Children's Hospital at St Thomas's in London? There used to be a great person there called Manual Barroso (I think) who ran an interesting arts programme...

Helene Hugel is a puppeteer, children's theatre maker, and social entrepreneur. The Bedmaker is her most recent performance and travels bedside-to-bedside, empowering children to transform their hospital beds into an imaginative, storytelling landscapes.

She is also artistic director and founder of Helium, children's arts and health company based in Ireland.

Helium produces creative art interventions for, with, and by young people in health care settings.

Helium aims to uphold the Arts and Health field as a creatively charged environment with which artists can engage, where art-forms can be challenged, enriched, and extended to produce ground-breaking, inventive new work which engages with the development of children’s arts in Ireland.

- Spanner In The Works Company run a programme at Guy's Hospital with short / long term and psychiatric child patients / (spannerintheworks.org.uk).
- Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital have a school attached for their child patients and would be keen to receive a theatre programme.

Northern Ireland
- Cahoots Theatre in Belfast has a touring programme touring children's wards (Bedside Theatre). They have a CD showing the programme in operation.
