Identifying innovative approaches to participatory art programmes/projects for children in hospital.

Hi,
I am mapping the use of multi-disciplinary and participatory arts with children in hospital in the UK.  I am based in Ireland.  Can anyone recommend hospitals with high quality programmes/projects? (I am not looking for examples of environmental enhancement and I am also aware of Clown Doctors.)
Thank you!

Have you checked out the Evelina Children's Hospital at St Thomas's in London? There used to be a great person there called Manual Barroso (I think) who ran an interesting arts programme...
Thanks for this. Yes I have heard of Evelina Children's Hospital through the Welcome Trust. They funded a project there called For the Best which was based on children's experiences of dialysis and which ran as a promenade performance for three weeks at the Unicorn Theatre, June 2009.

I will contact Manuel.
I will also collect any further info I find during my mapping here.
Other programmes I have come across:

Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool: http://www.imagineappeal.com/about/art.asp

I am also researching Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and
Alder Hay Children's Hospital, Liverpool.

Any further information would be appreciated.

MANIFESTOS (or, Tell Us What You Really Think)

There's a venerable tradition of artists' manifestos, which always seem to pop up especially at times of great cultural and political change (post WW1 dadaists; them 60s experimenters...) so, given that we are living through times of extraordinary change right now, I thought I'd start a thread for MANIFESTOS RELATING TO MAKING ART FOR CHILDREN.Don't have one?  Nor did I until 24 hours ago, then I decided I'd write one.So get going, and it'd be grand to see them here...See More

On encouraging young audiences (or their parents) to take risks

http://www.itstheforest.comWhy should parents bring their children to see something like my company's dance piece 'The Forest'?When it’s half term and I scan the pages of the ‘what’s on for children’ sections of magazines I want to know that the experiences I choose for my children will be, to be honest, worth the effort, that they will enjoy it, that they will be enriched in some way, in any way, by what they’ve seen.I want to take them…See More
