Permalink Reply by Samantha Butler on Having just seen the best performance of Macbeth I've ever seen - and it was performed by 12 year olds - I can wholeheartedly say, Shakespeare and children YES! This was part of the Shakespeare in Schools Festival, and my children's school entered their Macbeth into it, this will sound totally biased but neither of my children appeared in the show! What I was witness to was an overwhelming sense of the young perfomers having been taken on a rollercoaster ride of language, emotion and expression through the stageing of the piece. Listening to a 12 year old girl deliver Lady Macbeth's words with such clarity was pretty powerful stuff both for me and for her!
