Event Description

Growing Stories is an Earlyarts Professional Development Day. The aim of the day is to experience a range of stimulus for language development for boys in early years. Understanding how visual and kinaesthetic stimuli can be of particular support to boys in developing vocabulary and self-confidence in story making, and sharing ideas to look at a range of practice in Leicester aimed at supporting the creative learning of boys in early years.

The day will feature a presentation from Paul Gobey – Library Manager, Children’s Services Leicester City Libraries ‘Leicester City context and strategies for developing language and literacy in early years’ and two practical workshops with award winning playwright and poet Peter Rumney on The World of Play and Kinaesthetic and Visual Ways of Story Making.

With an emphasis on participation and reflection these workshops offer delegates a variety of practical ways to engage children with the ‘word’.
